Reverend Schulzz Biografie Biography Er selbst bezeichnet seinen Musikstil als Folk-based Alternative. Und in seiner Heimat ist der Mann, der ein wenig wie die hagere Reinkarnation Bob Dylans wirkt, längst schon eine Legende. Seit Beginn der Neunziger Jahre nämlich bereits hat sich Reverend Schulzz als Gitarrist und Frontmann diverser Indie-Rock-Formationen in bundesdeutschen Clubs einen Namen gemacht. 1989 gründete er gemeinsam mit seinem langjährigen Weggefährten Andi Kerl die Band "The Crow". Innerhalb kürzester Zeit erspielten sie sich den Ruf "eine der führenden Independent-Bands im Rhein-Main-Gebiet" (Prinz) zu sein und erreichten einen gewissen Kultstatus – Airplay und TV-Auftritte inklusive. Nach einer 2 Jahre währenden Serie von Gigs, unter anderem mit Townes van Zandt und Sessiongästen von Giant Sand, Dream Syndicate und Yo La Tengo erscheint 1991 die Debut-LP "Combat Folk Songs" auf Twang!/Berlin. Alan Bangs (d i e ROCKPALAST-Institution schlechthin) bezeichnet sie als eines der 10 besten Alben des Jahres. Als Solokünstler folgen Auftritte mit den Silos, Ian Matthews und eben auch Desert- Rock-Legende Rich Hopkins (Sidewinder, Sand Rubies, Luminarios), an dessen Live-Doppel-CD "Official Blue Rose Bootleg Series – Frankfurt" Reverend Schulzz mitwirkt und der ihn schließlich auch auf Deutschland-Tour und in die USA einlädt. Eine recht ausführliche Dokumentation mit Reverend und seinen damaligen Mitstreitern inklusive der Hanauer Musikszene gibt es hier unter dem Titel “Before There Even Was Drum & Bass”. STEFAN SAFFER Biografie + Diskografie Biography + Discography Der 46-jähriger Singer/Songwriter aus Leipzig startete mit 16 Jahren seine musikalische Laufbahn als Street-Folkie in den Fußgängerzonen zwischen Schweinfurt und Bamberg. 1986: Gründung der STRANDED JAYWALKS in Bamberg, eine der besten deutschen Garage-/Indie-Bands der 80er. Bis 1992 Sänger und Gitarrist bei den JAYWALKS. In dieser Zeit Deutschland- und Europa-Touren u.a. mit NIRVANA (89), MOE TUCKER, VIV AKAULDREN, DINOSAUR JR, u.v.a. 2 Vinly-Releases: - “SCUM” (1989) - “Back at funny farm” (1991) – bei Exquisite-Music 1993 – 1997: Arbeiten, leben, schreiben und produzieren in Berlin 1997: Umzug nach Leipzig. MATHIAS SCHUELLER Biografie Biography Der niederrheinische Songschreiber Mathias Schüller ist seit 2005 als Sänger, Gitarrist und Songschreiber unterwegs. Den Startschuss gab es mit dem Debütalbum `Der Goldene Plan´ und einer 14tägigen Tour als Support der Silos. Weiter ging es 2007 mit dem 2. Album `Das Winterfell Des Leguan´ und 2008 mit dem limitierten Akustik-Solo-Album `Ins Blaue´. Die Alben wurden durchweg gut besprochen. Der Folker stellte es vor, als ein `vi...elversprechendes Debüt-Album ... und dass man gespannt sein darf, was da noch so kommt´. Melodie & Rhythmus fand, das sei `außergewöhnliche Musik´ und der Rockzirkus lobte die `hochintelligenten Texte´. Mathias Schüller bleibt seiner Linie treu. Die Musik ist eine Art niederrheinischer Americana mit deutschen Texten. Sein Gitarrenspiel ist gekennzeichnet durch ein sehr rythmisches folky Fingerpicking. Seine Stimme bleibt unverwechselbar, genau so wie die Geschichten, die er erzählt. Von 2005 bis 2009 hat Mathias Schüller solo, im Duo mit HB Hövelmann oder mit der Band gute 100 Auftritte gespielt. Er hat sich mit so illustren Künstlern wie Jackie Leven (R.I.P.), Band Of Heathens, Hobotalk, den Great Crusades, Danny Dziuk und Cindy Bullens die Bühne geteilt. Mathias lebt seine musikalischen Vorlieben auch mit weiteren Nebenprojekten aus: THE BUDENZAUBER are three individual musicians, 45 to 53 years old, who all come from a different musical background, and who have been playing life gigs since they were teenagers - and they are all very good and confident at it!! They are not a set band who play all year round together - THE BUDENZAUBER gigs are a most exciting one-tour-a-year-event where the artists book their plane tickets and get going and just don't stop. LACY YOUNGER Biografie Biography With looks to kill and a voice to match Lacy Younger sings songs about life and life's lessons. Still Wild, the singer, songwriter's debut CD on Cactus Rock/Hyena Records is Lacy's open rockin' book on life, love and surviving the ride. Starting fresh in 2011, Lacy decided to collaborate with long time friend Jay Jardine, (they co-wrote 'But I Miss You') and the Jones brothers, Jon & Ben, (siblings of Chris Jones, veteran guitar players with a fresh, yet familiar sound that harkens to the early 70's...their Les Paul and Strat merge into hypnotic, harmonic leads). "I have been a solo artist for so long but always wanted to be in a band'...I love my boys and we are writing some great music!"...says Lacy. Born in San Diego, CA, she grew up with the sound of the surf and the Stones. "I was always a big Keith Richards fan, his songwriting and addictive riffs inspired me...I loved the B side songs," says Lacy ...but as a performer/singer I wanted to be like Mick Jagger or Paul Rogers" These influences are sometimes evident in her energy and somewhat cocky persona on stage yet she has this youthful girlish quality that shines through. She has that edgy grit when she wants to yet can sing clear as a bell at the height of her range. A powerful presence on stage, Lacy is no stranger to the spotlight. "At age three. My Grandma, Goldie would grab me out of bed, stand me on the coffee table and insist I belt out 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' for a house full of martini clad party guests." By age five she was writing songs on the piano. "Writing and performing have always been my favorite form of self expression," says Lacy, "I was 15 years old when I sang in my first band with a bunch of old guys!...(all in their twenties)..and was playing in local clubs by the time I was 16." From there Lacy never looked back. She moved to L.A. at 17 where she began singing and arranging background vocals, demos and the occasional jingle. Being a songwriter first, Nashville was a natural progression for Lacy. In the 90's she spent time honing her craft where 'song is King' and a Viking princess it's diligent subject. During her time there she was offered several publishing deals but chose to avoid tying up her songs while holding out for a record deal. The short wait paid off and she accepted an offer back to LA.. Soon after Lacy experienced the heartbreak of professional dreams not realized when her first record was dropped before they ever began promoting it. This sent her into a hiatus of sorts. But her downtime didn't last long as soon after she returned home to S.D. she was brought together with Val Garay. Lacy joined forces with the Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer, (Linda Rondstat, Jackson Brown, The Motels, James Taylor).. and brought STILL WILD to fruition. "I feel good about that record" says Lacy, "If you have to call me something, I'm O.K. with being called Southern Rock,-blues or pop-rock...whatever!".."I've always had a hard time with that chronically asked question, 'what kind of music do you do?'....and the unavoidable pigeonholing that goes on." "I never have a straight answer!”, “It's all a necessary part of promoting and marketing a body of work...I get it." Lacy goes on to say, "I'm just a poet at heart”. You'll find Lacy Younger is Still Wild, in a good way as this record emotes. Of the thirteen cuts on the CD, eleven were written by Lacy. "Everyone has a tough time when it comes to love, I write the occasional 'story' but mostly I write about what I experience or what I see others experience; I know,...another song about heartache, bore me!.....but what else is there besides money and the pull of gravity that has such a huge affect on the human BEING?!"... she says.
